French Quarter Engagement Photography for Fabulous People

I had such a great time with Skye and Thomas during their engagement session on Sunday.  These two were up for anything, and Kevin and I were shocked at how quickly time flies when in the company of this charming pair of esquires.  We started in the lower quarter and then headed up to the riverfront to check out what was left of the tall ships, before making our way back to the cars by way of Bourbon street.  Which was crazy!  Here are my favorite photos from the shoot:

New Orleans Wedding Photography- St. Joseph’s, Chateau Country Club

A couple of weeks ago Kevin and I had the pleasure of joining Cassandra and Leon for their gorgeous wedding day.  Cassandra, with the help of her mother and sisters, planned a fun and colorful wedding day that kept her bridal party and guests happy and smiling from bride prep at the Sully Mansion, to the ceremony at St. Josephs, and through the totally fabulous reception at Chateau Country Club.  Some of my favorite parts of the day were Cassandra’s dad surprising Leon during the first look, watching Alex Harvie work his painting magic at the reception, and seeing all the adorable details Cassandra put together for the day.

Here are my favorite photos!

‘Da Parish and ‘Da Quarter- New Orleans Engagement Photography for the Multi-Faceted Client

Last Saturday Hannah and Chris and Kevin and I went on a road trip to the end of the world.  Which happens to be in St. Bernard Parish.  It’s a spot I’ve been wanting to photograph for some time, and these two were the perfect candidates for the journey.  Both have childhood connections to the area, and I enjoyed listening to them reminisce about all the sites as we made out way towards the water.  These two were troopers as we were ravaged by mosquitoes, although I think they were relieved when we wrapped up in the country and made our way back to the city for a little bit of French Quarter flavor.  I love the color in these photos!  Here are my favorites:

Spring Wedding in New Orleans- Audubon Park and Audubon Clubhouse

After their City Park and Finn McCool’s engagement session, I thought that Caroline and Michael were two of the coolest people I have ever photographed.  After their wedding at Audubon Park and reception at the Audubon Clubhouse, I knew they were.  We began the day with a truly special bride prep- Caroline prepared for her wedding day in the master bedroom of the gorgeous mid-city home she and Michael had just purchased.  The two had never spent a night there- their wedding night would be the first.  It was a terrifically authentic experience.  After complete primping had occurred, we headed to the Newman Bandstand for their first look before the lovely ceremony underneath the grove of trees outside the clubhouse.

The day was going perfectly, and Kevin and I were having a great time with our bride and groom and their super cool friends.  And then it got awesome.  Michael and assorted other groomsmen and friends took the stage and ROCKED like no one has ever rocked a wedding reception before.  I remain in awe of his talent.  AND THEN… it got even awesomer.  The song “Sweet Caroline” is played at about 80% of the wedding receptions I photograph.  Yet the greatest version ever was performed that night by Michael for his new bride, Caroline.   What an amazing way to start your married life together.  I think Caroline knows, deep in her heart of hearts, that life with Michael will be fun and full of surprises, and that Michael will always make sure she knows how much he loves her.  And Michael knows, deep in his heart of hearts, that he has a warm, gracious, beautiful and brilliant lady to join him on the journey of life.  Kevin and I had a great time at their wedding, and I’m happy to present some of my favorite photos from their day:

New Orleans Wedding Photography- Ritz Carlton Hotel Courtyard Wedding

Laura and Will are, as any of their friends will tell you, the nicest people on the planet.  “Nice” is usually such a lame word, but in this case, it actually works.  Because to say they are kind, and warm, and loving, and generous, and patient, and sweet would just take all day.  Every minute in their company is a minute of joy!  I had a great time getting to know them better in New York City for their super fun engagement shoot.  Needless to say, it was so amazing to spend their  wedding day with them and a couple hundred of the similarly fabulous people who comprise their group of closest loved ones.

Kevin and I spent the entire day surrounded by luxury at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, New Orleans.  Event coordination was provided by the fabulous staff of Kelly Sherlock EventsBee’s Flowers created beautiful ceremony and reception spaces, and the Boogie Men kept guests dancing for hours.  They also do a fantastic Hava Nagila.  The fabulous folks at Dyle Films are hard at work on what will be an amazing video.  I can’t wait to see it!  Until then, we can all enjoy some of my favorite photos from the day.

New Orleans Wedding Photography- St. Charles Presbyterian, The Chicory

I’m friends with wedding photographers all over the country, and every time I see photos from their weddings I am so thankful that I am a New Orleans wedding photographer.  The people have so much more pizazz, and the wedding days just have an extra level of excitement.  Caitlyn and Geoff’s wedding was no exception.  I started with bride prep at the Lowes Hotel on Poydras, and Kevin began with groom prep at the groom’s house uptown.  After getting briefly trapped by the Irish Italian parade downtown, our bridal party made it to St. Charles Presbyterian  for the ceremony.  Afterwards, their reception at The Chicory  had such an old New Orleans feel- it really is a special place for an event.  Crescent City Soul was on hand to keep everyone grooving. Caitlyn and Geoff are just perfect for each other, and it was such a pleasure joining them on their wedding day.  Here are some of my favorite photos:

Baton Rouge Wedding Photography- Old State Capitol

I met Renee and Justin last year when I was photographing the wedding of an old college friend of Justin’s.  Naturally, I was thrilled when they invited me to photograph their own wedding in Baton Rouge at the Old State Capitol.  If you are a fan of architectural elements, then you will love this blog post.  The building looks like an old castle, and is decked out in some pretty spectacular stained glass.  Only the classiest of couples could pull off a wedding in such an elegant venue, and this gorgeous pair did so with aplomb.  Day of coordination was provided by Weddings by Allie, reception entertainment by Baton Rouge’s own Carbon Copy Band.  Here are my favorite shots from the day!

An Intimate New Orleans Wedding- St. Patrick’s Church, Antoine’s Restaurant

Kara and Thomas are Texans with family histories of having fun in New Orleans.  Naturally, they chose New Orleans as the location for their January 21st wedding.  I met them through wedding planner extraordinaire Melanie Martin of New Orleans Celebrations.  Melanie planned a beautiful wedding day for them, from the wedding mass at gorgeous St. Patrick’s church on Camp street, to the five course dinner at Antoine’s afterwards.  Joe Simon’s Jazz Band was on hand to set the New Orleans atmosphere, and Kara and Thomas enjoyed a low-key yet elegant classic New Orleans wedding day, and some fun pyrotechnics from the brave Antoine’s staff.  Here are my favorite photos!

New York City Engagement Photography- DUMBO

Have camera… will travel.  Especially when that travel is to my second favorite city on the planet- New York.  Brooke Augusta and Pittman (Pitt and Boots to their friends) hail from Arkansas, live in New York, and are getting married in New Orleans.  They are relocating to New Orleans, but really love the neighborhood they’ve called home for the past two years- Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, or DUMBO to the locals.  An authentically Brooklyn neighborhood filled with cobblestone streets, fantastic graffiti, and panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline.   I had a great time checking out their apartment, their Tibetan terrier Huey P. Long,  and their favorite spots around the area.  A highlight was lunch at reBar restaurant, where they shared their first meal after moving to New York.  Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day.

New Orleans Engagement Photography- Fun French Quarter Date

It is a beautiful January day in New Orleans, and a perfect one for sharing Clair and Paul’s colorful French Quarter engagement portraits.  Kevin and I had a great time strolling around with this gorgeous pair, and of course were thrilled when they requested what is quickly becoming our most popular photo for engagement sessions- the beignet sugar blow!  They were such fun and kept me laughing the whole time, and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in New Orleans in May.

Now is also a perfect opportunity to present the wedding website we are now including with all engagement sessions our wedding clients book with us.  These sites are a great way to show off your engagement portraits, and clue guests in on the details for your wedding day.  And thanks to my amazing web team, the sites are way more stylish than anything you can make for free for yourself.  Here is Clair and Paul’s.

And here are some of my favorite photos from the day:
